Our commitment to responsible and ethical tour practices

Our Position on Animal Welfare

We are firmly committed to ethical tourism practices and the protection of animals in Thailand. We do not sell tours or show tickets which involve animals, regardless of how ethical the business claims to be. This is a core value that shapes every partnership we make and every tour we offer.

What We Don't Support

We do not sell tours or show tickets which involve animals, including:

  • Elephant Sanctuaries - regardless of whether riding is allowed or not allowed
  • Animal Shows or Performances - any show involving animals in their performance
  • Zoo Tickets - we do not sell tickets to zoos or animal facilities
  • Tiger Shows or Monkey Performances - or any similar animal exhibitions

Our Partnership Standards

We partner with a large number of tour operators in Thailand, and we vet each partner carefully for their ethical standards and responsible tourism practices. We work exclusively with operators who share our commitment to animal welfare and environmental protection.

In the case that it is reported that any customers who book tours with us are taken to an animal exhibit which was not supposed to happen, we will:

  • Refund that customer's reservation in full
  • Cut ties with the operator immediately

Wildlife in the Wild

It is entirely possible to see animals in the wild on our tours, and we celebrate these natural encounters. Our tours may include sightings of:

  • 🐵Macaque Monkeys living naturally in the Phi Phi Islands
  • 🐢Marine life including Hawksbill Turtles and Black Tip Reef Sharks
  • 🐬Dolphins on some specialized programs

These wild animal encounters are natural, ethical, and contribute to the conservation of these species in their native habitats.

Responsible Tourism Practices

We partner with tour operators who employ licensed tour guides. Tour guides are trained in how to behave around wild animals, with specific emphasis on:

  • Not feeding wild monkeys or other animals
  • Not collecting starfish or other marine creatures from the sea bed
  • Maintaining safe distances from wildlife
  • Respecting natural habitats and ecosystems

We encourage all our guests to follow the guidance set out by tour operators and guides to ensure we leave only footprints and take only memories.

For Travellers Who Want to See Elephants

For travellers who would like to see elephants in Thailand, we recommend visiting National Parks where they can be spotted in the wild. This is a much more rewarding and ethical experience than seeing these magnificent animals in captivity.

Popular National Parks for Wild Elephant Sightings:

  • Khao Yai National Park - high chance of sighting elephants in the wild
  • Kui Buri National Park - another popular location with excellent wildlife viewing

Seeing wild elephants in their natural habitat is not only more ethical, but provides a much more authentic and rewarding experience for the traveller and is better for the animals' wellbeing.
